Jose Manuel Merello is a Spanish contemporary artist. Alot of his inspiration comes from artists such as Picasso and Goya. His opinion of contemporary art is that its continuing from the works of great artists. He believes modern techniques has allowed artists to fully express themselves through their art. “Painting does not need so much fanfare or intellectual pretension” His artwork shows the light of the mediterranean through the empitness of the castilian plateau. You can see elements of spanish culture like music, his work distinctly is inspired of Picasso but with a more serene feel. What I like about is his work is he represents what is positive about Spanish culture. However within Spanish art there is a lack of art about one of its most famous sports Bullfighting.
